Explore the Universe. Create the Impossible.

Deep Sky Creations is an independent game studio creating games, interactive worlds, and experiences shaped by a deep love of space, science, exploration, technology, and discovery.

Two pillars, one reason

The astronomy came first. Years of pointing a telescope at things that are objectively too far away to matter, then working out how to photograph them from a back garden in Michigan with a sky that is not remotely dark enough. That is where the name came from, and it is still running — the gallery is original work, the catalogue is sourced from SIMBAD, NED and NASA rather than written from memory, and the orrery computes real positions.

The games came out of the same habit. Wanting to know how a thing works well enough to build a working model of it is the same impulse whether the thing is an asteroid field or a transfer orbit. So the launch simulator on this site runs patched-conics physics instead of an animation that looks about right, and the trivia questions come out of the same catalogue that feeds the atlas.

That is the whole thesis, and it is not a marketing angle: the studio makes fictional worlds because it spent a long time paying close attention to the real one. Games are the future of the business. Space is where it came from. Neither is decoration for the other.
