Ultimate Emulator / System
PlayStation
Your discs. Your BIOS. Rendered up to 8x.
RazorPS1 plays PlayStation disc images with DualShock controls, shared memory cards and internal resolution up to 8x. It needs a PlayStation BIOS you provide, and the BIOS's region decides which discs run.

01 / Current support
Where PlayStation stands today.
Status describes the core, not every game. Compatibility is always title-dependent.
- Supported
- Owner acceptance is recorded for the core or named play mode; compatibility remains title-dependent.
- Core
- RazorPS1, a first-party core included with Ultimate Emulator. It is chosen automatically for PlayStation games.
- Optimized
- A specific owner-accepted optimization milestone exists for this core.
- Release note
- BIOS required. Enhanced resolution uses the software renderer; full speed is not guaranteed.
- Cheats
- Free. In the Game Menu's Cheats section, choose + Add Cheat Code and enter a code you have. There is no built-in cheat list, and cheats are switched off in online multiplayer sessions.
02 / Your collection
The files it plays.
These are the PlayStation game files RazorPS1 opens. Ultimate Emulator does not supply games; add them from your own collection.

03 / Firmware & BIOS
A BIOS you provide.
PlayStation games cannot start until its BIOS is added. You add it once, and Systems shows Ready.
- Required
- Any 512 KiB PlayStation BIOS is accepted, and the region it is for decides which discs will run, so use a BIOS for the same region as your games. The application's What file do I need? lists the versions it recommends for each region.
-
Open Manage BIOS
In Systems, select PlayStation and choose Manage BIOS. Its firmware page lists each file the system uses and whether it is required.
-
Choose the file you own
Check What file do I need?, then use Choose BIOS File, or Choose Firmware Folder if you keep your firmware together.

04 / Input
How it plays in your hands.
Connect a controller and it is mapped automatically. Change the layout for every game, for this system only, or for a single game in Settings → Controllers.
PlayStation in Ultimate Emulator
- Two controllers, with DualShock analog sticks, rumble and the Analog button.
05 / Picture
Sharper than the original, if you want it.
Window mode, Fit and Integer Scale, aspect ratio, pixel filtering and effects come from Settings → Graphics, for every system or for one game.
- Internal Render Resolution
- Native, 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x. Higher steps draw the game itself at a higher resolution and ask more of your graphics card.
- Renderer
- Shown for information. The system's built-in engine chooses how it draws, with a safe fallback.
06 / Your progress
In-game saves and save states.
In-game saves
- Two memory cards, shared by all your PlayStation games, the way a console holds two cards.
Save states
- Available for local play: Quick Save and Quick Load, saved states in the State Manager, Auto-Save and Auto Resume.
- Coordinated multiplayer sessions have their own state policy.
Rewind is not integrated with this core.

07 / Play together
Together on one PC, or across two.
A system profile does not make a single-player game multiplayer. The game decides how many can play.
- On one PC
- Up to 2 players, one controller each, in games made for more than one player. No account needed.
- Across PCs
- Native Multiplayer for two players, with ROM Mode. Each PC runs the game and the players' inputs are shared. Online sessions need Premium for everyone taking part.
08 / Honest compatibility
What to know before you play.
Current limits of the included core, as of this release.
Known limitations
- Compressed and container disc formats, including CHD, PBP, ECM, NRG, MDF and M3U playlists, are not opened. Use .cue with .bin, .img or .iso.
- Enhanced (internal) resolution runs on the software renderer. 2x and 4x are faster in this release, but full speed is not guaranteed.
- Save states made with earlier versions of Ultimate Emulator cannot be loaded in this release. They stay on your PC, and memory-card saves are not affected.
- Compatibility is still incomplete: some games do not run correctly yet.
- Region
- Set by your BIOS: the region it is for decides which discs will run.
