Ultimate Emulator / System
Super Nintendo
Sixteen bits, enhancement chips and the Super Scope.
RazorSNES plays Super Nintendo cartridges, including games built around the console's best-known enhancement chips. Most games need nothing extra; a few chip-based titles use a firmware file you provide.

01 / Current support
Where SNES stands today.
Status describes the core, not every game. Compatibility is always title-dependent.
- Beta
- Included, broader qualification continues.
- Core
- RazorSNES, a first-party core included with Ultimate Emulator. It is chosen automatically for SNES games.
- Unrated
- No comparable per-core performance rating is claimed.
- Release note
- Optional enhancement-chip firmware, only for the games that need it.
- Cheats
- Free. In the Game Menu's Cheats section, choose + Add Cheat Code and enter a code you have. There is no built-in cheat list, and cheats are switched off in online multiplayer sessions.
02 / Your collection
The files it plays.
These are the SNES game files RazorSNES opens. Ultimate Emulator does not supply games; add them from your own collection.

03 / Firmware & BIOS
Optional firmware, for a few games.
Play is not blocked without it. Systems shows SNES as Optional.
- Optional — some games
- Only games with certain enhancement chips use it: DSP-1, DSP-1B, DSP-2, DSP-3, DSP-4 and Cx4. Ultimate Emulator ships none of these files. A game that needs one will not start until you add it; every other SNES game needs nothing.
-
Open Manage BIOS
In Systems, select SNES and choose Manage BIOS. Its firmware page lists each file the system uses and whether it is required.
-
Choose the file you own
Check What file do I need?, then use Choose BIOS File, or Choose Firmware Folder if you keep your firmware together.

04 / Input
How it plays in your hands.
Connect a controller and it is mapped automatically. Change the layout for every game, for this system only, or for a single game in Settings → Controllers.
SNES in Ultimate Emulator
- Two controllers. There is no multitap, so local play is for up to two players.
- The Super Scope light gun on port 2: aim with the mouse; the left button fires.
05 / Picture
The original picture, on a modern screen.
Window mode, Fit and Integer Scale, aspect ratio, pixel filtering and effects come from Settings → Graphics, for every system or for one game.
- Resolution
- Drawn at its original resolution, then scaled to your window with Fit or Integer Scale and your choice of pixel filtering and effects.
- Reduce Display Flicker
- On by default. It changes the picture only.
- Renderer
- Shown for information. The system's built-in engine chooses how it draws, with a safe fallback.
06 / Your progress
In-game saves and save states.
In-game saves
- Battery-backed cartridge saves are kept as one save file per cartridge.
Save states
- Available for local play: Quick Save and Quick Load, saved states in the State Manager, Auto-Save and Auto Resume.
- Coordinated multiplayer sessions have their own state policy.
Rewind is not integrated with this core.

07 / Play together
Together on one PC, or across two.
A system profile does not make a single-player game multiplayer. The game decides how many can play.
- On one PC
- Up to 2 players, one controller each, in games made for more than one player. No account needed.
- Across PCs
- Native Multiplayer, with ROM Mode. Each PC runs the game and the players' inputs are shared. Online sessions need Premium for everyone taking part.
08 / Honest compatibility
What to know before you play.
Current limits of the included core, as of this release.
Known limitations
- RazorSNES implements the SA-1, Super FX, DSP family, Cx4, S-DD1 and OBC-1 enhancement chips. Games built around any other enhancement chip are not supported yet.
- ExLoROM cartridges are not supported.
- Region
- Read from the cartridge; PAL games are supported.
